Report Forms That Parents Understand: Opener, Mid Term, End Term

SomaPro Team · October 9, 2026 · 1 min read

Kenyan parents expect exam-by-exam subject tables, not a single foreign-style GPA page. Design report forms around that habit.

A report form is a trust document. If parents cannot read it in under a minute, the office will answer the same questions all week.

What works well in Kenyan schools:

1. Separate sections for Opener, Mid Term, and End Term when you print a full term view.
2. One row per subject: score, maximum, percentage, grade label, short remark.
3. Class / grade / stream clearly printed so parents know the year level.
4. An exam average that matches how the school talks in academic meetings.

Avoid packing the first page with marketing blurbs or unused columns. Parents want to know: How did my child do in English? Are they improving since opener?

Bulk printing should produce one form per learner, filtered by the class and exam you already selected in the office. That is how closing-day envelopes actually get packed.

If your current process is “export to Excel, then Word, then print shop,” you are spending staff hours that could go to coaching teachers instead.
