KPSEA and KJSEA 2026: A Practical Checklist Before 26 October

Grade 6 and Grade 9 assessments run from 26–30 October after a 23 October rehearsal. Primary and junior schools can use this short readiness list.
For many CBC / CBE schools, late October is assessment week — not only KCSE season.
KPSEA (Kenya Primary School Education Assessment) and KJSEA (Kenya Junior School Education Assessment) are scheduled for 26–30 October 2026, with rehearsal on Friday 23 October. Morning sessions typically start at 8:30 a.m. Schools should confirm every paper against the official KNEC timetable posted for their centre.
A practical checklist for head teachers and centre managers:
1. Confirm candidate registers and photo cards match the class list you use daily.
2. Brief invigilators on seating, late arrival rules, and materials collection times (often earlier than KCSE centres).
3. Prepare learners emotionally: sleep, meals, and calm routines matter as much as last-minute revision.
4. Tell parents the exact dates — and that results processes differ from old high-stakes ranking culture at this level.
5. Keep ordinary school operations running for non-candidature grades so the whole school does not freeze.
KJSEA matters especially for transition into Senior School pathways. Parents will ask what the assessment means for placement. Have a clear, honest FAQ ready instead of wait-and-see silence.
Schools that treat KPSEA/KJSEA as “lighter than KCSE” sometimes under-prepare logistics. The candidature numbers this year — well over a million learners at each level — show these assessments are now central to the national calendar.
